The small community of Peyton is located east of the town of Colorado Springs.
The town of Peyton was settled in 1888. By 1900, 50 people lived in Peyton. While farming and coal mining comprised the main occupation, supporting services included a blacksmith, physician, general store, creamery, hotel, and clergy.
In 2010 the population was 250.
